Blackjack Hit Or Stand Choices

In Addition to the traditional Blackjack game player options as Blackjack Hit Or Stand, Hit option (take one more card) and Standing option (ask for no more cards) all the gamers have the opportunity to benefit of the advantage of additional player solutions, such as Split, Doubling Down option and the less frequently used options as Surrendering option and Insurance option.

Splitting pairs

The Split choice unlike the Blackjack Hit Or Stand Options can be used in case the first two cards received by the gambler form a pair of the same rank. The gamer then has a chance to split the first 2 cards into two independent, separate combinations and automatically get 1 additional card for every hand. This choice demands one more wager that is as the original one.

Example, let’s imagine the first two cards dealt to the player were both 8’s. (Actually this is the best possible example of situation when definitely splitting, as otherwise the hand combination would be counted as 16, that has an extremely great chance of going over 21 if the gamer hits and a small chance of beating the dealer if he stands). The player decides to split and raises the original wager of $5 to $10. The dealer gives another card to each new hand combination. If the first combination was dealt an Ace and another hand a 5. The gambler stops on the first combination with the value of soft 19, and hits on other hand combination receiving a 10 and losing with 23. For example, the dealer has 17, that signals the player is the winner with the first hand combination and loses with the second one.

Doubling Down

The Doubling option is the additional to the Blackjack Hit Or Stand Options permits the player to increase his or her bet when he is 100% confident that only 1 more card might make his/her hand combination harder than the hand of the dealer. The bet is raised two times, although some gambling establishments allow Doubling Down for less than two times. This chance is called Doubling option for less. The choice of Doubling Down offers a great edge to the gamer as he might gain much more. Once the player hand combination is a 9 or a 10 or 11 valued one, it is adviced that he doubles down cause there is a large probability of getting a strong combination with one more card.

Surrender option

The Surrendering, still not very popular, has two versions. These variations are famous as Early and Late Surrender. Early Surrender option is the solution that permits the gamer to give up his or her combination and 1/2 of his or her original bet before the croupier checks his cards for Natural. This gives a greater edge to the gamer and that is the reason why it is almost not provided. The Late Surrendering although still rarely met lets the player to forfeit half of his or her bet and hand only after the croupier has verified his or her cards (it is worth mentioning that if the dealer does have a blackjack, no gambler is permitted to Surrender and all the gamers lose with the exception of those that do have a Natural that tie).

Surrendering option is advised if the gamer has a weak hand combination with a high probability of busting if he/she chooses to draw against a croupier high facing up card.

Insurance option

Insurance is the additional to Blackjack Hit Or Stand Options and is offered to all the gamblers in case the dealer facing up card is an Ace. In these cases, all the players are offered to insure players’ bets against the dealer blackjack. The price of the wager is usually half of the original bet and pays off (once the croupier does have a natural) 2-to-1. In this cases, when putting the insurance wager you risk just 1/2 of the initial wager. However, the Insuring is considered as a pointless one as only the experienced card counters may say when the dealer PROBABLY has a natural.
